Cisco Certified Network Associate Certification in Dallas

Becoming a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) means that you’ve mastered the fundamentals of network setup, maintenance, and repair. The courses that lead to this certification are part of our Network Support Specialist program or an elective in our Network and Computer Systems Administrator certification or degree program.

Asher College’s CCNA certification preparation is broken into 2 courses.

  • Advanced Level Networking 1 and Advanced Level Networking 2.

In these courses, students will learn and develop skills in the following areas.

Module 1 Network Fundamentals
  • Identify the key concepts behind the OSI Model
  • Identify the physical devices operating at each level of the OSI model and how they contribute to network communications
  • Discuss the benefits and limitations of current network topology architectures
  • Compare physical interface and cabling types
  • Configure and verify IPv4 and IPv6 addressing
  • Configure and verify IP parameters for common client operating systems (Windows, Mac OS, Linux)
  • Knowledge of virtualization
Module 2 Network Access
  • Configure and verify network connectivity models including VLANs, interswitch connectivity, Cisco Discovery Protocol and LLDP, LACP, and Spanning Tree Protocol
  • Describe the differences and benefits of implementing Cisco Wireless Architectures versus AP modes
  • Identify and discuss physical infrastructure connections including AP, WLC, access/trunk ports, and LAG
  • Configure and observe AP and WLC management access connections including Telnet, SSH, HTTP, HTTPS, console, and TACACS+/RADIUS
  • Configure troubleshoot the components of a wireless LAN access 
Module 3 IP Connectivity
  • Identify and describe the elements of routing table
  • Describe how a router makes a forwarding decision based on the configured protocols and observe the default behaviors
  • Configure and verify IPv4 and IPv6 static routing
  • Configure and verify single area OSPFv2
  • Module 4 IP Services
  • Configure and verify a variety of IP services, including NAT, NTP, DCHP, DNS, SNMP, QoS, SSH, and TFTP/FTP
  • Configure and use Syslog features including facilities and levels to monitor and manage a network
  • Module 5 Security Fundamentals
  • Discuss key security concepts including authentication, authorization, and accounting concepts
  • Configure and test security elements including password policies, VPN connections, access control lists, DHCP snooping, dynamic ARP inspection, and port security
  • Configure a WLAN using WPA2 PSK using the GUI
  • Module 6 Automation and Programmability
  • Identify the importance of automation in network management
  • Define the key elements used to create controller-based and software defined
  • Discuss the benefits of implementing Cisco DNA Center enabled device management
  • Describe characteristics of REST-based APIs
  • Compare and contrast the benefits of using Puppet, Chef, Ansible, and JSON
  • After completing the course, the exam can be administered at Asher College or an approved Pearson Vue facility. Successfully passing the exam leads to the Cisco Certified Network Associate certification from CISCO.

    Prerequisites: CompTIA Network+ or Industry experience determined by meeting an instructor.
