IT Network Engineers are the driving force behind modern computer networks. The goal for an IT Network Engineer is to ensure the integrity of high availability network infrastructure to provide maximum performance for their users. Network Engineers are responsible for setting up, developing and maintaining computer networks within an organization or between organizations. Network Engineers also configure software, manage user accounts, maintain and upgrade servers, and ensure that the network always runs smoothly. They offer support to users, who can be staff, clients, customers and suppliers, and troubleshoot any problems that arise. IT Network Engineers, in some cases, may also be involved in designing new networks.

Network engineers may work internally as part of an organization’s IT support team, or externally as part of an outsourced IT networking consultancy firm working with a number of clients.

To become an IT Network Engineer it is necessary to receive training and certification from an accredited school. Asher College is accredited through ACCET, the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training, and offers both an Associate of Applied Science in IT Engineering degree and an IT Engineer certificate program. Students in Asher’s programs should already hold CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+ certifications or have equivalent work experience. Graduates of the program will be able to demonstrate the training and skills required to design and maintain today’s complex data networks and will be qualified to test for seven different Microsoft certifications including a Microsoft operating system certification, the MCSA*, and MCSE*, and Cisco’s CCENT* and CCNA*. Graduates from the IT Network Engineer programs at Asher College will have hands-on experience to advance their careers, and the certifications necessary to maintain the networks that modern businesses need.
