At Asher College, our mission is to prepare graduates for careers that are in high demand in their communities. Programs are designed for students to get the training they need, quickly, and find entry-level employment immediately upon graduation. Our Career Services department specializes in helping our students secure employment; our staff works closely with each student to identify their strengths and connect them with our network of potential employers. The Career Services department also offers resume writing assistance, interviewing skills, networking opportunities, and career workshops. Asher offers several different programs for students interested in entering the healthcare field. If you are looking for a career-training program that can be completed in as few as 6 months, our Medical Records Specialist program can be completed in just 26 weeks! Graduates of this program are fully prepared to test for the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) or the Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist  (CEHRS) certifications through the National Healthcareer Association. Asher’s Health Information Specialist program offers additional training, and can be completed in as few as 39 weeks! The Health Information Specialist program prepares students for one of the above certifications, or the Certified Billing & Coding Specialist (CBCS) certification (National Healthcareer Association), and there is an option to earn an Associate degree by taking an additional 6 courses* (4 weeks each).

Asher’s Medical Billing and Coding program is also designed to prepare students for careers in administrative healthcare, but is a more comprehensive program with a more specialized scope in Medical Coding. The Medical Billing and Coding program can be completed in 41 weeks, and students will be prepared for one of the following certifications:

  • Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA)/ National Healthcareer Association
  • Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist (CEHRS)/ National Healthcareer Association
  • Certified Billing & Coding Specialist (CBCS/ National Healthcareer Association
  • Certified Professional Biller (CPB )/ AAPC
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC-A)/ AAPC

Students in the Medical Billing and Coding program also have the option to take 6 additional courses* (4 weeks each), in order to earn their Associate of Applied Science degree. An Associate degree can demonstrate to potential employers that you are ready for supervisory or management responsibilities based on the additional investment that you have made in your education. With a degree from Asher and professional certification, you’re sure to stand out in a crowded job field. 

Administrative healthcare workers such as medical biller/coders and medical records/health information specialists are integral to the American healthcare system. These administrative healthcare professionals perform critical duties, freeing up doctors, nurses, and other medical workers for clinical duties. As an administrative healthcare worker, you can play an important role in our medical system, supporting clinical healthcare workers and working directly with other medical professionals to deliver patients with the highest level of care. These administrative healthcare workers are essential to our medical system, and because they are essential, these workers remain employed even during times of economic hardship such as the last few months. 

Asher also offers a Pharmacy Technician program, with both certification and degree options. The Pharmacy Technician program teaches students how to establish and maintain patient record files, submit insurance claim forms, and manage prescription and over-the-counter medication inventories. The program prepares graduates to test for the Pharmacy Technician Certification exam (PTCE) proctored through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). The program can be completed in as few as 45 weeks, and students who wish to pursue an Associate of Applied Science degree complete 6 additional courses* (4 weeks each). Students who complete Asher’s Pharmacy Tech program go on to find rewarding employment in a variety of pharmaceutical careers.
