Asher IT Students Gain Invaluable Experience Through PC Repair Clinics

At Asher College, our community is so important to us. Our mission is to train students for the careers that are in high demand in their own communities, so they can work where they want to live, and be of service to the communities they call home. Each of our three campuses strives to be a positive neighbor, and one way we give back to our community is through our PC Repair Clinics. Asher College’s PC Repair Clinics are a free service that is open to the public, and the PC Repair Clinics at the Las Vegas, Nevada and Dallas, Texas campuses have just reopened! Asher College – Las Vegas and Asher College – Dallas are now offering free computer repair to the public again. 

Asher College’s PC Repair Clinics are a FREE service that is open to the public in and around our campus communities. Through the PC Repair Clinic, members of the local community may make an appointment to drop off their broken or malfunctioning computers at Asher College. Under the supervision of Asher College instructors, students who are currently enrolled in Asher’s Information Technology programs perform repair, virus removal, installations, and maintenance. 

Asher College offers several IT programs, each designed to prepare students to test for industry-recognized professional certifications through CompTIA, Cisco, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). IT programs Asher College include:

Computer Operations and Security Specialist 

  • 16-month certificate or 22-month Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree program
  • Prepares students for multiple industry-recognized certifications including: 
    • CompTIA A+ 
    • CompTIA Network+ 
    • Microsoft Window Client (Operating System)
    • CompTIA Security+
    • CompTIA Linux+
    • CompTIA IT Operations Specialist (CIOS), from the Infrastructure Specialist Pathway (by stacking A+ and Network+)
    • CompTIA Secure Infrastructure Specialist (CSIS), from the Cybersecurity Specialist pathway (by stacking A+, Network+ and Security+)
    • CompTIA Systems Support Specialist (CSSS), from the Infrastructure Specialist pathway (by stacking A+ and Linux+)
    • CompTIA Linux Network Professional (CLNP), from the Infrastructure Professional pathway (by stacking Network+ and Linux+)

Network and Computer Systems Administrator

  • 16-month certificate or 22-month Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree program
  • Prepares students for multiple industry-recognized certifications including:
    • CompTIA A+ 
    • CompTIA Network+ 
    • CompTIA Security+
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) 
    • CompTIA IT Operations Specialist (CIOS), from the Infrastructure Specialist Pathway (by stacking A+ and Network+)
    • CompTIA Secure Infrastructure Specialist (CSIS), from the Cybersecurity Specialist pathway (by stacking A+, Network+ and Security+)

Cloud and Computer Security Specialist 

  • 16-month certificate or 22-month Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree program
  • Prepares students for multiple industry-recognized certifications including:
    • CompTIA A+ 
    • CompTIA Network+ 
    • Microsoft Window Client (Operating System)
    • CompTIA Security+

    • Amazon – AWS Solutions Architect
    • CompTIA IT Operations Specialist (CIOS), from the Infrastructure Specialist Pathway (by stacking A+ and Network+)
    • CompTIA Secure Infrastructure Specialist (CSIS), from the Cybersecurity Specialist pathway (by stacking A+, Network+ and Security+)

Each of Asher College’s IT programs is designed to prepare students for careers in the ever-expanding IT industry. Through classroom instruction and participation in the PC Repair Clinics, students learn the knowledge and expertise required to tackle real-world IT challenges. The PC Repair Clinics allow Asher’s IT students to get hands-on experience in their field, and by providing help and advice, students are able to practice the interpersonal “soft skills” that are necessary in this industry.

Asher College’s PC Repair Clinics are valuable for students and the public alike. Students receive real-world experience, and the community gains access to an excellent resource for computer repairs. It’s a win-win situation for both Asher College IT students and members of the community!
