We strive to provide our students with the latest, most relevant training, and so we are excited to announce our Computer Information Specialist (CIS) program will now feature training for two Amazon Web Services (AWS) certifications! Cloud Computing is the future of IT, and AWS represents a large share of the Cloud Computing market. What is Cloud Computing, and what is Amazon Web Services (AWS)? If you are currently working in the IT industry, you may already be familiar with AWS and the importance of cloud computing. Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides servers, storage, networking, remote computing, email, mobile development, and security to the worldwide market. AWS is a leading cloud computing platform, controlling more than a third of the cloud market – almost twice as much as it’s next closest competitor. Many large multinational companies use AWS, including Netflix, Reddit, Quora, Airbnb, Foursquare, and even NASA! Accounting for about 13% of Amazon’s total revenue as of Q2 2021, AWS is a primary profit driver for Amazon. Asher is excited to announce our Computer Information Specialist (CIS) program now offers students the training they need to obtain these valued AWS certifications! The CIS program is a great fit for students who already have some IT experience, and are ready to take the next step in their IT career by obtaining multiple IT certifications. With the core CIS program, students receive the training needed to test for important IT certifications including:

  • CompTIA A+ Certified Technician 
  • CompTIA Network+ or Microsoft Network Fundamentals 
  • Microsoft Operating System
  • CompTIA Security or Microsoft Managing Modern Desktops

For students interested in Cloud Computing and the AWS certifications, the CIS program allows students to customize their training through the choice of electives. Students choose between 3 elective tracks; for those students who are interested in pursuing training and certification in Cloud Computing, elective track 3 will prepare you for two Amazon Web Services (AWS) certifications. In elective track 3, students learn to implement a small switched network, implement an IP addressing service, configure and troubleshoot basic operation on AWS Platform. Upon completion of the elective courses, students will be prepared to test for and obtain the Amazon AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and the Amazon AWS Solutions Architect certifications. At Asher, our certification testing is done right here on campus!

Equipped with several relevant industry certifications, including the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification and the AWS Solutions Architect certification, graduates of Asher’s CIS program enter the IT job market with confidence, prepared for positions including Desktop Support Specialist, Jr. Network Administrator, Network Operations Analyst, Technical Support Specialist, Network Technician, and Help Desk Technician.
