4 Steps to Take After Finishing Your Degree
Completing your A.A.S. degree is a huge accomplishment and something that should be celebrated. This is especially true when you’ve faced obstacles like working while studying, raising children while pursuing higher education and doing all of this in the midst of a global pandemic.
Upon graduating with your degree, you have the opportunity to start a new chapter. Here are some important steps to take after your A.A.S. is finished.
- Take stock of your goals. While graduating is exciting, it can also be a bit scary when you don’t have an exact plan for what comes next. No matter what you plan to do next, it’s important to know what you want out of life. If that’s to work a specific job, then it’s time to make your career goals a reality even if it means going back to school again. Know your goals and do what you must to make them happen.
- Prepare for employment. If you are not already working in your field by the time you graduate, then your employment is our top priority. While in your program you took important steps to preparing a winning resume and setting yourself up for a successful interview so it’s time to execute. Together, we’ll help you prepare for the next chapter of your journey to employment with your new skillset.
- Consider continuing your education further. Once you’ve begun working, you can consider continuing your education further. One option available to you after earning your associate’s degree is to turn it into a bachelor’s degree. Asher works with several institutions that will allow you to transfer credits and certifications you have earned at Asher College into their bachelor’s degree programs. When you want to explore your options, reach out to your Admissions Advisor for a list of institutions we have worked with. If you already have a school in mind, request your Asher transcript and let us know if you need further assistance.
- Make moves toward your future. Now that you’ve graduated and are setting up for your career path, it’s important that you are also preparing for the future in your personal life too. Having a higher paying job thanks to your newly earned degree means improving upon your financial literacy and/or new opportunities, like improving your credit score so you can purchase a home. One step you can take to tackle both of these is researching and understanding what credit score is needed when buying a house—and the steps you need to take to get there. That way, when you’re ready, you’ll be prepared.
Finishing your degree is a celebratory occasion and it opens up a plethora of opportunities for your future. Whether you’re continuing on with your education, starting a new journey in the workforce, or doing both while also making important moves in your personal life, taking these steps after graduation will help you continue on with success.
