Asher Provides Federal Aid Grants to Eligible Current Students

At Asher, we know how difficult the last year has been for students. Many of you faced challenges in adapting to distance learning, struggled to juggle school with increased home and family responsibilities, or were compelled to take on a new job because of difficult financial times. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused so many challenges for students, and at Asher College, we are committed to doing everything we can to help support our students’ success. We work with our students to identify financial assistance and payment options that can help pay for some of the cost of your training. Asher College was awarded a Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) grant as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), and these federal funds are awarded to our students to help pay their school expenses and complete their programs of study. The application period for active students is open now; read on to learn more!

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) was passed by Congress on March 27th, 2020. This bill was intended to provide fast and direct economic aid to the American people negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and approximately $14 billion was given to the Office of Postsecondary Education as the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund, or HEERF. In January, 2021, the U.S. Department of Education announced an additional $21.2 billion in HEERF II funds made available to higher education institutions to ensure learning continues for students during the COVID-19 pandemic. On March 11, 2021, Congress again voted to provide additional funding, allocating an additional $39.6 billion in HEERF III funds under the American Rescue Plan (ARP). Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) are eligible to apply for HEERF grants, and Asher College is pleased to have been selected as a recipient of these federal education funds

At Asher College, we believe an education and career training can be one of the most valuable investments a student can make, and we work with our students to make this training as accessible as possible. At Asher, every student meets one-on-one with one of our friendly financial aid representatives, who helps the student explore all the options they may qualify for. Staff works closely with each student to identify their individual payment plan, and connect them to appropriate financial aid for which they are eligible. Asher’s staff will help you determine your eligibility for federal financial aid (Title IV funding) and grants, and will assist you in filling out the Free Application for Federal student aid (FAFSA). Veteran training benefits are also available to those who qualify.

Current Asher students may be eligible for HEERF education stabilization funds under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act. To be considered for a HEERF student grant, current students will be sent a survey link to apply with just four simple questions, (see sample here) and must have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file. The next round of funds will be distributed in the summer, fall and winter of 2021.  Students who have withdrawn or whose enrollment has been terminated will not be eligible.

Asher wants to help make your career training as accessible as possible, and HEERF grants are one more way Asher can help you reach your career goals.
